An Ayurvedic Practitioner is an Ayurvedic health professional with additional training in pathology and disease management beyond that of the Ayurvedic Health Counsellor.

An Ayurvedic Practitioner works similar to a naturopath however there are certain principles and theories that are very unique to Ayurveda including the doshas which are the 3 energy types that make up your individual constitution.

An Ayurvedic practitioner will create a treatment plan for the individual taking into account their current signs, symptoms, disease manifestation, unique physical and emotional makeup & dosha. A treatment plan may include dietary, lifestyle, body therapy recommendations and herbal medicine prescriptions.

An Ayurvedic practitioner & Ayurvedic Doctor is competent in managing and treating the disease from the Ayurvedic perspective, using Ayurvedic etiology, pathology, diagnosis and management of diseases, in addition to supporting the prevention of disease and promotion of health.

Harmony Inspired Health integrates different medical systems to get optimal results for their clients. Harmony Ayurvedic medicine, functional medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, evidence-based science and the knowledge of allopathic western medicine.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the “Science of Life & longevity”. (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge).

Ayurveda is a holistic integrated health care system originating from India around 5000 thousand years ago, combining the knowledge of health science, psychology, spirituality and philosophy. Ayurveda recognises that the mind and body are intricately connected and that optimal health can be achieved through the balance among the mind, body and spirit.

Ayurveda helps us to understand our own individual makeup and apply the knowledge to maintain optimal health and wellbeing through lifestyle, nutrition, understanding certain temperamental traits that may affect our mind and understanding certain health issues that may arise for us.

The science of Ayurveda is used worldwide today to maintain the quality and longevity of life so that you can live the healthiest and most vibrant version of yourself.

The doshas are a concept to explain the energies that govern the mind & body of an individual.

Our prakriti dosha is the one that we were born with.

Our vikruti dosha is our current doshic state.

All of the doshas can be found in everybody, however, we all have different proportions of the doshas within us at any given time.

The 3 doshas are: Vata, Pitta and Kapha.  Take the free quiz here: https://www.subscribepage.com/ayurveda-dosha-quiz

In accordance with your unique constitution, you will be offered nutritional guidelines. As an individual with unique nutritional requirements, we will work together to create an Ayurvedic meal plan specially tailored for you.

Ayurvedic herbal medicines, lifestyle modifications, nutrition and other unique therapies such as pranayama (breathwork) & therapeutic bodywork are used in Ayurveda treatments depending on each patient’s condition and constitution.

An Ayurvedic practitioner works similar to a Naturopath, however, we have a few added unique offerings and concepts that help us individualise treatments for each person’s unique condition.

You have the option to take functional medicine lab tests such as food intolerance tests, nutritional & metal toxicity labs, hormonal screens, gut biome, parasites stool analysis or many other functional medicine tests that will best help us understand where an imbalance may be occurring and help to uncover the root cause of dis-ease within the body. You will be recommended the most suitable lab depending on your symptoms. Lab tests are optional, you do not need to have labs in order to get great results but they can help in reducing some of the initial “detective work”.

Ayurveda offers both preventative medicine for longevity & wellbeing as well as treatment for chronic &/or acute illness. Ayurveda has a unique mind-body-spiritual approach that conventional medicine does not offer.

Ayurveda expands on Naturopathic medicine.

Ayurveda is person-centric, not disease centric recognising that each person must be treated according to their individual needs in a holistic manner. It helps to stop the recurrence of chronic disease through a holistic and natural approach which modern medicine has limitations.

Yes, Ayurveda is a wonderful medical system in its own right but can also be very complementary to other treatments and forms of medicine.

At the Harmony Inspired Health clinic, we integrate the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, with the knowledge of evidence-based science and modern medicine.

No, Ayurveda and its principles are universal which means anybody can incorporate them into their daily life. Ayurveda does not require someone to adopt a certain religion to apply its principles.

Ayurveda itself is not a religion, its teachings draw upon ancient wisdom, philosophy & health science.

No, although Ayurveda uses herbal and natural medicine, it does not require one to be vegetarian. Your diet depends on what your body/constitution needs.
