Our mind & body responds best when it is pacified with a natural routine that enhances our qualities so we can put our best foot forward and thrive in life.
The ayurvedic clock is a 24 hr guide that aims to nurture our natural circadian rhythm.
During a 24 hr period, each dosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) becomes more active at certain times of the day/night.
This Ayurvedic clock shows each active dosha at its respective time and what activities we should do to best serve our mind, body & soul so we can adapt to our natural rhythm, offering us energy, vitality, rest and rejuvenation at the appropriate times.
Ayurveda & many other Eastern medical systems, suggest that when we live in accordance with natures rhythmic dance, we will live a full life of health & longevity.
2 am – 6 am: Vata times of the day. Activities consist of light sleep, elimination, meditation, visualisation, creativity.
6 am – 10 am: Kapha time of day. It is time to gather energy, prepare for the day, complete elimination, eat a light breakfast and do some exercise.
10 am – 2 pm; Pitta time of the day. It is a time to organise yourself, plan and take action. Your Agni/metabolism is at its highest at midday, lunch should be your largest meal for the day.
2 pm – 6 pm: Vata time of evening. Movement in the early evening, socialise, eat your last meal around 6 pm.
6 pm – 10 pm: Kapha time of night. This is a time for assimilation, slowing down, go within & prepare for sleep. It is advised to be in bed and asleep by 10 pm so that you can fall into a deep sleep. It is between 10 pm -12 pm where deep transformation and healing occurs.
10 pm – 2 am; Pitta time. Deep assimilation, dreams and subconscious action.
Take a moment to consider this 24 hr guide & reflect on how you may be able to implement some of the suggestions into your daily routine so that you can work with your natural circadian rhythm, which, helps to balance hormones, mitigate stress and enhance your health.
